Counselling is the provision of professional assistance in resolving personal or psychological problems. Counselling is a process in which two people meet together, in private, to explore the issues of one of them. This is done through purposeful conversations in an understanding and non-judgemental atmosphere.
Counselling seeks to establish a helping relationship where you can express your thoughts and feelings in such a way as to gain relief from sharing your problems, increase your understanding of issues, to decide what, if any, changes you might want to make and help you set, work towards and evaluate these changes.
I am curious about you and your life: wanting to understand you and help you understand yourself. I am interested in how you think and feel, I will listen to you and offer you my understanding.
I have a lot of experience in working with Family Dynamics and relationships, including the impact of childhood on your life today.
I have a comfortable, private counselling room in Chatham, close to public transport and public car parks. I have use of a room with disabled access if required.
The counselling I offer is called Integrative. What this means in plain English is that I work from a variety of therapeutic theories, using the models and ‘tools’ that meet the needs of the individual client. These include psychodynamic, person centred, solution focused and cognitive behaviour.
I work with a wide range of issues long term and short term, meeting either weekly or fortnightly. I offer daytime and evening appointments.
